OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates, Greater Cleveland chapter is a membership-driven non-profit organization of community advocates dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans in Northeast Ohio.
The local chapter was founded in 1983 as the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) Northeast Ohio chapter but merged with the Chinese Association of Greater Cleveland in 1995 to form the Organization of Chinese Americans of Greater Cleveland (OCAGC). In 2013, the organization underwent a nationwide rebranding, becoming OCA Greater Cleveland – Asian Pacific American Advocates.
Founded nationally as the Organization of Chinese Americans (美華協會) in 1973, the OCA has grown into a robust national advocacy organization dedicated to advancing the civil rights of Asian Pacific Americans and aspiring Americans. In 2013, to reflect OCA’s initiative of diversity and inclusion, OCA rebranded as OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates.
